Yoga studio classes

Gentle Yoga

Our yoga studio provides slower paced, more relaxed classes open to all students. The teacher offers a lot of modifications and will use chairs, walls and other props to help ease your way into postures and calm the mind and body. This class is great for students recovering from injuries, pregnant or have any physical limitations.

Beginner’s Yoga

An introductory session of classes accessible to everyone. Learn basic pranayama (breath work), asana (postures) and alignment to start you on your yogic journey. Props are used to help support and align the body.

Level 1

Students continue the study and practice of Hatha yoga fundamentals including warm-ups, asanas (the physical postures), breathing and deep relaxation. A sun salutation (postures linked together) is introduced by many teachers. Props may be used to allow greater effectiveness, ease, and stability in your postures.

Level 1/2

Classes typically emphasize building strength and endurance in postures, refining alignment, and working with more challenging variations on basic postures. A slow flow (connecting breath to movement) style class, that explores back bends, longer holds and balancing poses.

Low Back & Hips

This class uses subtle movement to learn to stablize the pelvis, strengthen the hips and lower back and explore the underlying conditions (holding patterns) you may have in our bodies. You will explore healthy postural and movement principles and learn how to practice yoga for your body and prevent further injury.

Restorative Yoga

Restorative Yoga practice is designed to restore the nervous system and help release deeply held tensions from the body and mind.

In restorative yoga, props are used to support your body so that you can experience purposeful rest.  Allowing your body to have deep rest can eliminate fatigue, help with recovery from injuries, ease anxiety and reduce the impact of stress on our physical and mental health.

Yin Yoga

Yin is a slower paced, more meditative yoga class.  Postures are held approximately 3-5 mins to cause moderate stress on connective tissues of the body (tendons, fascia and ligaments). The longer holds create an increase in circulation in the joints and improve flexibility.

Flow Yoga

This multi-level flow yoga class links breath to movement.  The pace can vary, allowing you to build strength, stamina and flexibility using dynamic yoga sequences. The class is best suited for students familiar with yoga postures.

Core Yoga

Core muscles help strengthen and stabilize your spine and pelvis. A strong core enhances balance and stability and improves posture.  Work towards a balanced core by releasing tight overworked muscles and strengthening weak muscles in this demanding, yet accessible class. You work to your own level, variations will be given throughout the class.

Sound Meditation

Sound Meditation is a very effective form of meditation. Allow the wave of sounds to wash over you in a relaxed state of being. For thSound ousands of years, sound has been used in ancient cultures to ease anxiety and promote a sense of well being. Crystal singing bowls along with tibetan bowls, chimes and a gong create soothing sounds to allow an individual to relax deeply, achieving an altered state of consciousness similar to deep meditation.

Yoga for Osteoporosis

In this class you will learn important information about osteopenia and osteoporosis, the 18-20 poses that were chosen specifically to strengthen and increase bone density and modifications of the poses to keep you safe.  Forward folding and Sun Salutations will be avoided in this class.  Each student will move through the three levels of poses to reach their fullest potential.  Props are available as needed.  In this class you will strongly engage your muscles and use oppositional force to encourage the bones to improve their density.
